An authentic Victorian / Edwardian table lamp, constructed using two real animal hooves, most likely deer, arranged symmetrically around a central white metal stem. Hoof lamps of this type were produced in limited numbers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and were intended for use in gentlemen’s studies, hunting lodges and country houses. While three-hoof examples are more commonly encountered, two-hoof lamps are notably scarcer, making this a desirable and slightly unusual survivor.
The lamp is mounted on a decorative turned solid wood base and fitted with a decorative pressed white metal collar, displaying foliate detailing typical of the Art Nouveau period. The piece has been converted to electricity at some point in its life, which is entirely typical and expected for lamps of this age. It has been fitted in the past with a Bakelite in-line switch.
This is a genuine period object, not a later reproduction and remains a bold and characterful decorative piece over a century after it was made.

This antique ecclesiastical brass sanctuary bell is a beautifully crafted piece of religious history. Featuring its original ring clamp and screw, this bell bears the Latin inscription, "Qui me tangit vocem meam audit," which translates to "Who touches me, hears my voice." Sanctuary bells, like this one, were traditionally used during the consecration of the host at Mass, signaling to the congregation the moment of transubstantiation—the transformation of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ. The ringing of the bell served to draw attention, heightening the reverence and solemnity of the occasion. Sanctuary bells became particularly prominent in the medieval period, where they were often elaborately designed and crafted from high-quality materials, symbolising the divine connection between the earthly and the sacred. This ornate brass bell, with its intricate design and historical significance, would have been a cherished and essential item in ecclesiastical settings. Heavy cast alloy Scottish Terriers used to advertise and promote Buchanan’s Black and White Scotch whisky. Cast from a heavy white metal alloy, these restored standalone ‘Scottie Dog’ figures showcase good casting detail. Such well-preserved individual pieces are rare, making them a prized addition for collectors of breweriana, vintage advertising memorabilia, canine sculptures or whisky-related artefacts.
Buchanan's whisky has a rich history dating back to 1884, when James Buchanan, a Scottish businessman, founded his whisky company in London. Buchanan was a master blender who wanted to create a smooth, accessible whisky for the English market, and he quickly gained a reputation for quality. One of his earliest blends, Buchanan’s Blend, became so popular that it was chosen as the official whisky supplier for the House of Commons in 1898, a connection that inspired the Black & White label, featuring the iconic black and white dogs we have for sale.
Scottish Terriers or ‘Scottie Dogs’ are small, sturdy dogs originally bred in Scotland. They’re known for their distinctive appearance, short legs, a compact body and a wiry coat that comes in black, brindle, or wheaten colors. They can have a distinctive beard and bushy eyebrows, giving them a dignified, almost aristocratic look.
