Hand-turned seat supported by three glued-and-jointed legs for strength. Wonderful deep antique patina, showing attractive signs of wear and character developed through years of constant use.

An antique distressed hardwood artists, tavern or milking stool. Would make fantastic studio or workshop stool. Overpainted in white gloss paint that has been lost in places, particularly at the foot of the legs and on the seat. Sturdy turned and jointed legs. Other than a clean and a coat of lacquer to seal the flaking paint the stool is in original and unrestored condition.

An antique oak joint or coffin stool with baluster legs and plain stretchers. Solid and stable construction. Looks like the top has been refinished at some time based on lack of scratches and staining etc. Coffin stools were originally intended to be used as a small seat or coffin stand in the family home at sad times when friends and relatives gather, such as a funeral, hence the name. Would make a wonderful statement plant or lamp stand.
