Pair of 1920s Polychrome Florentine hand-carved wood candlesticks gesso pillar holders. This exquisite pair of matching candlesticks showcases the legendary craftsmanship of the Italian Florentine tradition. Unlike mass-produced cast iron alternatives, these pieces are meticulously hand-carved from solid wood, then layered with a traditional gesso ground and hand-painted with vibrant floral motifs.
The "polychrome" finish on the base features a rich palette of ochre, cobalt blue, and deep reds, offset by a "hammered-effect" gesso texture on the central stem. These are not just functional objects, but sculptural works of art that bring a "Chateau-chic" or "Old World" soul to modern interiors.
